Queen's Drive Curriculum
Curriculum Intent
At Queen's Drive, we inspire everyone to develop their true potential and a love of learning through curiosity and excitement.
We have composed a distinctive, personalised, creative curriculum that is text rich and one that will prepare our children for an ever-changing world that is culturally diverse. Their curriculum will inspire and challenge them. One with high expectations, excellent teaching and inclusive approaches which will form the basis of all our work. Through our four school values; respectful, nurturing, aspirational and healthy, the children will get the opportunity to read widely, explore and become independent learners.
Dream. Believe. Achieve
Our intent is to inspire the next generation of writers, readers, mathematicians, engineers, historians, artists, scientists and musicians etc …
Curriculum Implementation
The school follows the National Curriculum in all areas. Details of the National Curriculum are available in school and “on line” at https://www.gov.uk/national-curriculum if you should wish to see them. We use a variety of schemes of work to ensure that all subjects have clear progression in knowledge. However, these have been personalised to ensure that they reflect the needs and nature of Queen's Drive Primary School. You can also access the Early Years curriculum at https://help-for-early-years-providers.education.gov.uk/get-help-to-improve-your-practice/curriculum-planning

Overall implementation
· Our curriculum is built upon our four core values: nurturing, healthy, respect and aspirational.
· The curriculum is taught through discrete subjects, building on previous knowledge and only taught through a theme where this would enhance the curriculum and allow for cross-curricular learning. There is a clear progression of knowledge in all subjects.
· The children’s own community, its heritage and traditions are frequently used as a starting point for engaging interest.
· The curriculum will provide opportunities for children of varying aptitudes and abilities to find fulfilment and enable them to develop emotionally and physically as well as academically.
· The school grounds have been developed so they can enrich different curriculum areas. In the Early Years, indoor classroom experiences are reflected in the extensive outdoor environment. Our' Forest School' Curriculum is timetabled and led by qualified Level 3 practitioners.
· Our curriculum is also planned to ensure our children have a greater understanding of the culturally diverse society in which they live and its history.
· The school takes pride in providing a highly inclusive environment, where learners demonstrate high levels of enjoyment. Children at all levels are helped to achieve their potential through adaptive teaching and learning for all learners regardless of their ability.
· Subject leaders play an important rolw within the school curriculum and its development by leading a regular programme of monitoring, evaluation and review. The celebration of good practice contributes to the ongoing commitment to evolve and improve further.
. More information on how we implement our curriculum can be seen in our Teaching and Learning Policy.
Curriculum Impact
Our 'Dream, Believe and Achieve' high expectations in teaching and learning across the school provides a strong foundation and opportunities for children to collaborate and develop social skills both indoors and out. This curriculum design ensures that the needs of individual and small groups of children can be met within the environment of high quality first teaching, supported by targeted, proven interventions where appropriate. In this way it can be seen to impact in a very positive way on children’s outcomes. Enjoyment of the curriculum promotes achievement, confidence and good behaviour. Children feel safe to try new things. High quality visits and visitors to the school enhance the curriculum and provide opportunities for writing for a purpose. Children have opportunities to share their learning with each other, their parents and carers and other learners through school-based and external exhibitions, performances, competitions and events involving other schools. Developing their independence and motivation as learners and their sense of responsibility as future citizens is at the heart of all our teaching and learning.
The impact of our curriculum can be seen in our results this year over the years across all subjects. We are extremely proud of our above national expectations standards in the core subjects. Over the last few years to measure impact we have assessed our foundation subjects. We can say that our Queen's Drive curriculum intent is very successful.
