Homework

Welcome to our Homework Page.

Spellings

Spellings are taught through Spelling Shed. Your child will be given a spelling homework sheet each Friday. These will be tested the following Friday. Spelling activities will be set on Spelling Shed which the children can access through their own login.

Home Reading

Home reading is vitally important for children's learning across all areas. We ask that you read as often as possible with your child. This should be a minimum of three times a week but every day is best. Each time your child reads, please sign and date their diary. These are collected each Friday and a record of how many times your child reads is collected. It is important that children have a wide and varied reading diet. The links below have some information and suggested tets for this age group.

Maths and Times tables.

At the end of Year 2, children should be secure in their multiplication knowledge of 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables. The Year 3 objective is to recall 3,4 and 8 multiplication tables. There are a varity of ways that this can be practised. It is important that children understand what multiplication means before they can recall. It may be helpful to model multiplication using objects and grouping. For example, 3 x 4 could be shown by making 3 groups with 4 sweet in each group. Once children understand the concept they can move on to remembering. Here are some useful links.

In Year 3, we learn to tell the time to the nearest minute on an anologue clock. This is often tricky to learn when only done in school. It will be of great benefit for children to practse this at home also as a life skill.
