Super Scientists and the Great Gingerbread Challenge! Year 2

This term in Science, we have had a fantastic time exploring the wonderful world of materials and their properties! We began by testing lots of different materials to discover what they are like - are they bendy or stiff? Waterproof or absorbent? Strong or fragile? Our young scientists asked questions, made predictions and recorded their findings just like real researchers!

To finish our learning with a sprinkle of fun, we took on a very special mission… helping our gingerbread men cross a river safely! We designed and created all sorts of clever solutions, including boats, bridges, rafts, floats and even waterproof jackets. Each child worked hard to choose the best materials for the job.

There were some amazing successes and a few soggy gingerbread casualties along the way, but most importantly, we learned a lot and had so much fun experimenting!

We are incredibly proud of the creativity, teamwork and scientific thinking shown by all our pupils. What a brilliant adventure in Science this term! 🍪🌉🚣‍♂️🧪
