📚 Class 6 Update
This week in Class 6 we have been diving into the wonderful, wacky world of Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. The children have been exploring rhyme, rhythm, and sound in stories – all while having fun with language.
We have especially enjoyed playing with tongue twisters. These short, silly sentences are not only fun to say, but they also help children:
Tune into sounds in words (phonics practice)
Notice rhymes and patterns
Build confidence in speaking and reading aloud
Develop listening and memory skills
After practising some well-known tongue twisters, Class 6 even had a go at inventing their own!
Here are a few of the tongue twisters we’ve been enjoying in class:
Fox with socks in a box
Six slick socks
Quick fox kicks
Chicks chew socks
Fox flicks sticks
✨ Why not have a go at home?
Children love teaching grown-ups what they’ve learned, so ask them to perform one of our tongue twisters for you. You could even try making up a brand-new one together – the sillier the better! For example, try picking two rhyming words (cat/hat, dog/frog) and see what sentences you can create.
Tongue twisters are a brilliant way to turn reading, speaking, and listening into a fun game – and they’re guaranteed to bring some giggles to your day!
