Class 5 - The Tiger That Came To Tea

Date: 8th Sep 2025 @ 2:22pm

📚 Class 5 Update

This week in Class 5, we’ve been enjoying the delightful story The Tiger Who Came to Tea by Judith Kerr. The children have been exploring storytelling, imagination and sequencing – all while diving into a classic tale that’s full of charm and surprise.

We’ve had great fun retelling the story in our own words, acting out scenes, and imagining what we would do if a tiger came to tea at our house! These activities help children:

  • Develop storytelling and comprehension skills
  • Build vocabulary and expressive language
  • Understand story structure (beginning, middle, end)
  • Use imagination and creativity in their writing and play

🎨 Tiger Art
Alongside our storytelling, Class 5 have been busy drawing their own tigers! From stripy, sleepy tigers to cheeky ones with big grins, the children have used colour, shape and texture to bring their ideas to life. Their artwork is now brightening up our classroom walls!

✨ Why not try it at home?
Ask your child to retell the story to you – or even act it out! You could read the book together and talk about what might happen next if the tiger came back. Maybe you could write your own version as a family: The Penguin Who Came for Pancakes or The Dragon Who Came for Dinner?

Stories like The Tiger Who Came to Tea are a wonderful way to spark imagination and build a love of reading. Plus, they’re perfect for sharing together – with plenty of giggles guaranteed!
