British Science Week in Class 4
Date: 16th Mar 2026 @ 4:18pm
Last week, to celebrate British Science week, Class 4 were set the challenge to create a boat that would float. Then, if it floated, we would see who's boat would hold the most without sinking.
The challenge was that all the children could use was a single sheet of paper to make their boat (paperclips and a small amount of masking tape were avaliable too, if they wanted). This was a task of teamwork and design also because the children were working in pairs.
I was amazed at how well the children took to the task, we had a range of designs and all boats floated successfully! Some boats handled more cubes than others but they were all fantasic. There were a couple of boats that didn't even sink.
We also discussed that after a while in the water, the paper boats became more fragile and would break easily.
We are having some technical issues with photographs, but I will upload some as soon as it is sorted.
